Cardinal Health Chamber Orchestra

The Cardinal Health Chamber Orchestra is a non-profit volunteer orchestra made up of Cardinal Health employees, members from the community, and surrounding businesses. The orchestra's mission is to provide live concert hall-style music for those that are unable to attend live performances, such as retirement communities, assisted care and Alzheimer care facilities. They also perform at elementary schools, planting the seed of music in hopes that it will grow into a life-long appreciation.

How it Began

The Chamber Orchestra started as a duo in 1997 when a Cardinal Health employee and violinist, Ron Reich, began to organize fellow colleagues with musical backgrounds. As more Cardinal Health employees learned about the orchestra, participation began to rise. As the group continued to grow, Ron began making arrangements for the orchestra to perform outside of Cardinal Health at senior centers that would enjoy hearing them play.

Giving the Gift of Music

Today, the all-volunteer orchestra now numbers 60 musicians, which include employees from other businesses such as Nationwide, Kimberly Clark Health, Akzo Nobel. Many musicians from the orchestra of Women in Music-Columbus have also become involved. The orchestra now performs several public concerts during the Christmas holiday, as well as each spring, in venues such as elementary schools and retirement communities.
