Supplier sourcing
Cardinal Health utilizes a variety of means to source small business suppliers. SDB and Women-Owned suppliers are sourced primarily through national and local organizations with charters to promote business development with major corporations. Cardinal Health is an active member of the
National Minority Supplier Development Council and its
South Central Ohio Minority Business Council (SCOMBC) affiliate, the
Women's Business Development Council and the
Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance (HSDA).
The company participates in trade fairs and uses other mechanisms such as
CCR to be made aware of suppliers and to interview prospective candidates. On an average, the company exhibits at five trade fairs annually. Geographically, our participation
typically
occurs in southern California, southern Florida, Texas, Illinois, the Carolinas, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. Cardinal Health proactively sources for small businesses at industry trade fairs. Additionally, the company will partner with its customers to identify small businesses for inclusion into the supplier diversity program. Cardinal Health also sponsors an
annual procurement conference intended to match our annual buyers and purchasing agents with qualified small businesses.
As needed for specific applications, the company will retain the services of a small businesses development consultant. This
person or
firm will assist Cardinal Health in the sourcing and evaluation of certain businesses. Additionally, Cardinal Health keeps a consultant to assist in the enhancement of its supplier diversity program.
