E3 Grant Program

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2014 E3 grant cycle; the application deadline has now passed. We hope to announce the grant awards in late April.

Cardinal Health develops and supports programs that help healthcare providers implement best practices that can truly transform patient care. Over the past six years, the Cardinal Health Foundation has invested more than $6.15 million, in a wide variety of programs, to improve healthcare efficiency, cost-effectiveness and quality.

Again this year, the Cardinal Health Foundation is seeking proposals from healthcare institutions that will impact the efficiency and quality of care. Grants between $7,500 and $35,000 will be awarded to approximately 25 organizations in 2014.

Focus areas include:

  • Medication safety across transitions of care from the acute setting to the community/home.
  • Operating room efficiency. Testing the AORN protocol to assess risk and implement changes to reduce pressure ulcers in the operating room.
  • Implementing protocols to improve infant outcomes for babies born addicted to opiates using a protocol developed by Ohio children's hospitals.

Example proposals

Below are several examples of proposals that were funded in past E3 Grant Programs. Please note, these are excerpts from the applicants’ full proposals and not the entire submission. In all cases the applicants responded to each question asked and provided a detailed budget and budget narrative. In most cases graphic representation of baseline data was also included.

We hope this information is helpful.
