You can focus on patient care, we'll focus on delivering the products and services that perform.

When you choose a supplier of surgical drapes and gowns, we know you expect the highest quality products, which is why we perform these rigorous tests to make sure all Convertors® products will meet or exceed your expectations. Just take a look at the many industry tests performed on our fabrics…

Barrier

Hydrostatic pressure [AATCC 127]
Measures the resistance of fabrics to the penetration of water under constantly increasing hydrostatic pressure. Indicates how the material will perform under external pressure fluids accumulating on fabric.
A high rating is superior.

Water impact [AATCC 42]
Measures the resistance of fabrics to the penetration of water by spray impact. Indicates how the material will perform when fluids fall or splash onto the fabric.
A low rating is superior.

Alcohol repellency [IST 80.6]
Measures the resistance of fabrics to penetration by aqueous isopropyl alcohol solutions. Indicates how the material will perform when alcohol, blood or body fluids come in contact with the fabric.
A high rating is superior.

Strength

Mullen burst [ASTM D3786]
Measures the resistance of fabrics to puncture under increasing pressure. Indicates the material's resistance to blunt puncture.
A high rating is superior.

Trapezoid tear [ASTM 5733]
Measures the resistance of fabrics to tear under a controlled force. Indicates the material's resistance to tearing when there is an initial tear in the material.
A high rating is superior.

Grab tensile [ASTMD 5034]
Measures the resistance of fabrics to break under an increased pulling stress. Indicates the material's resistance to breaking when there is no initial tear in the material.
A high rating is superior.

Weight

Basis weight [ASTM D3776]
Determines the weight of the fabric structure.
A number rating is appropriate.

Comfort

Air permeability [IST 70.1]
Measures the flow of air through a nonimpervious material at a specific pressure differential. Indicates the material's breathability and coolness during use.
A high rating is superior.

W.V.T.R. (water vapor transfer rate) [ASTME96D]
Measures the rate of water vapor transmission through an impervious material. Indicates the material's comfort level.
A high rating is superior.

Listing

Gelbo flex [IST 160.1]
Measures the number of lint particles removed from a fabric during repeated flexing. Indicates the material's airborne lint level.
A low rating is superior.

Absorbency

Wicking rate [IST 10.1]
Measures the rate at which water is absorbed into a fabric. Indicates how fast a fabric will absorb fluid over a measured distance.
A high rating is superior.
