Customized Staffing Solutions
In addition to offering its traditional services (i.e., temporary
staffing, Temp-to-Hire, Direct Hire), Cardinal Health will develop
customized pharmacy-staffing solutions to address the growing pharmacy
manpower needs of its clients. The goal of these customized solutions
is to help clients address the critical issues facing their pharmacies
today and in the future.
Cardinal Health's customized staffing solutions, which are developed
and implemented in collaboration with the client, include:
Interim Specialized Pharmacy Professionals (Travel)
In addition to temporary staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians,
Cardinal Health can provide more specialized pharmacy professionals
on a contract basis (usually 4- to 13-week assignments)
- Specialized pharmacy professionals include:
- Directors of pharmacy
- Clinical pharmacists
- Pharmacists with Board of Pharmaceutical Specialty certifications
in nuclear pharmacy, nutritional support, oncology, pharmacotherapy
and psychiatric pharmacy
- Staff pharmacists
- Pharmacy technicians
- Pharmacy inventory managers/buyers
- These interim professionals are available on a full-time basis,
usually for longer assignments.
- Travel expenses will most likely be incurred by the client
when obtaining the services of these individuals.
Turnover Analysis
Cost of Turnover (COT) is usually estimated to be at least 150 percent
of an employee's base salary. To quantify the COT for a specific facility,
Cardinal Health uses a "turnover analysis" spreadsheet that considers
more than 40 elements that must be analyzed to determine actual costs
associated with employee turnover.
Turnover elements can be placed in four categories:
- Employee Leaving Costs:
- Cost of fill-in employee(s)
- Productivity of fill-in employee(s)
- Cost of manager's time
- Lost departmental productivity
- Lost Productivity Costs;
- Departing employee(s)
- New employee productivity learning curve
- Co-workers and supervisors
- Recruiting Costs;
- Advertising
- Internal recruiter and assistant
- Administrative costs
- Pre-employment testing
- Training Costs;
- Orientation
- Department training
- Trainer and material costs
Cardinal Health's turnover analysis will quantify the client's actual costs
for each element that apply and combine that with actual historical
turnover data. The result is a verifiable COT for the pharmacy department.
This provides a benchmark against which recruiting and retention programs
can be compared and demonstrates the importance of addressing manpower
issues to the overall profitability of the facility.
Vendor-On-Premises (VOP) Program
Cardinal Health's Vendor On Premises (VOP) program allows clients
to achieve maximum benefit from their partnership with us. Unlike
the company's Employee Leasing solution, the VOP program allows the
client's employees to stay on the client's payroll. We manage the
scheduling of client staff, Cardinal Health staff and any outside
third-party staffing agency personnel.
- Cardinal Health places a staffing specialist on-site at the
client's main location or headquarters.
- All scheduling requests (i.e. vacation, sick call, open positions,
etc.) are funneled through Cardinal Health's on-site specialist.
- Cardinal Health will schedule the client's existing pharmacy
staff, relieving supervisors and district managers of that burden.
- Once the client's resources are exhausted, we will fill any
remaining openings from its pool of temporary workers.
- In those instances where additional resources are required,
we will manage the procurement of outside temporary services,
including managing requests, confirmations, and paying invoices
for those services.
- Clients benefit from:
- Reduced administration (only one agency to interact with)
- Consolidated billing
- Scheduling expertise
- Contract compliance with outside vendors
- Single point of contact for all requests
