Cardinal Health Names Richard C. Notebaert and George H. Conrades to Board of Directors

DUBLIN, Ohio, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Cardinal Health, Inc. (NYSE: CAH) announced today the appointment of George H. Conrades and Richard C. Notebaert to the company's board of directors, effective today. Retiring from the board are George R. Manser and Jerry E. Robertson.
An authority on the Internet, computing and telecommunications industries, Conrades, 60, is chairman and chief executive officer of Akamai Technologies, Inc. of Cambridge, Mass., an Internet services company. He also serves as a venture partner at Polaris Venture Partners of Waltham, Mass., an early-stage investment company. Before joining Akamai and Polaris, Conrades was an executive vice president of GTE Internetworking, where he was responsible for leading GTE's growth in the data and Internet fields. He also has served as chief executive officer of BBN Corporation, an Internet service provider credited with developing the precursor to today's Internet. Prior to joining BBN, Conrades was a senior vice president at IBM and a member of its corporate management board. At IBM, he ran many of the company's key businesses, including IBM United States, IBM Asia/Pacific and two manufacturing and development groups.
Conrades is a director of CBS Corporation and Infinity Broadcasting Corporation. He is a trustee of The Scripps Research Institute and Ohio Wesleyan University, and a member of the interim board of ICANN, a nonprofit organization that oversees the administration of Internet names and addresses. Conrades holds a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master's in business administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
Notebaert, 52, is chairman of Chicago-based Ameritech Corporation, a global telecommunications firm that serves millions of businesses and consumers in 50 states and 40 countries. The company provides local and long-distance telephone and data services; cellular, paging and cable television service; Internet access and other services. Notebaert's career in communications technology spans three decades, beginning at Wisconsin Bell in 1969. He joined Ameritech in 1983 as vice president of marketing and operations, and was named chairman and chief executive officer in 1994. Notebaert is a director of Sears, Roebuck & Co., Aon Corporation and United Way/Crusade of Mercy.
A leader in education and civic affairs, Notebaert is a trustee of Northwestern University and the University of Notre Dame. He serves on the advisory board of Northwestern's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and the University of Illinois President's Advisory Council. He is a trustee of Chicago Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Brookfield Zoo board of advisors. He also is a member of The Business Council, The Business Roundtable, The Council on Competitiveness, The Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, the Civic Committee of The Commercial Club of Chicago, The Economic Club of Chicago and the Executive's Club of Chicago. Notebaert holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's in business administration from the University of Wisconsin.

Manser, 68, is chairman of Uniglobe Travel (Capital Cities) Inc. and director of corporate finance for Uniglobe Travel (U.S.A.) LLC. He has been a director of Cardinal Health since 1977.
Robertson, 65, is retired executive vice president of the Life Sciences Sector and Corporate Services for Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company. He has been a Cardinal director since 1991.
