Dear Swedesboro customer,
As you may be aware, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will suspend our license to distribute controlled substances from our Swedesboro, NJ pharmaceutical distribution center effective December 13.
We are cooperating fully with the DEA in an effort to address the DEA's concerns and resolve the suspension. Cardinal Health also is implementing near- and long-term enhancements in our controls that guard against theft and distribution to pharmacies engaged in diversion.
The suspension affects only controlled substance shipments from our Swedesboro facility, and we are taking steps to meet your needs for these medications.
- New Jersey customers: We are working diligently on having a solution in place to meet your needs for controlled substances, with no disruption in service. We will provide you with an update on our ability to serve you as soon as possible.
- Pennsylvania and Delaware customers: We are making arrangements to fill your orders for controlled substances, with minimal disruption, from our Syracuse, NY, distribution center. We will provide you with an update on the procedures to use as soon as possible.
- Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC customers: We are making arrangements to fill your orders for controlled substances, with minimal disruption, from our Wheeling, WV, distribution center. We will provide you with an update on the procedures to use as soon as possible.
We apologize for the inconvenience this situation creates. Cardinal Health is committed to providing a safe and secure pharmaceutical supply chain. We take these responsibilities very seriously, and work diligently to comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing distribution. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.
Sincerely,
Cardinal Health
