The time is now to adopt an EHR solution
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides up to $17.2 billion in incentives through the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act to health care providers adopting certified health IT systems. A majority of this funding will be made available as Medicare and Medicaid incentives with the implementation of EHR.
To receive funding, a practice must be fully utilizing an EHR and connected by January 1, 2011. Practices that have not adopted a certified EHR solution by 2015 will have their Medicare reimbursements reduced by 1 to 3 percent each year.
Under Medicare, HITECH-compliant physicians demonstrate "meaningful use" of a health IT system such as MyWay™ will be eligible for up-to the following in cash incentives*(beginning in 2011):

*Physicians operating in a "provider shortage area" will be eligible for an incremental increase of 10% in their bonus payments. Physicians operating entirely within a hospital environment, such as anesthesiologists, pathologists and ED physicians, are ineligible.
